bloody egg

Hi just cracked open an egg for breakfast and it was full of blood. What does this mean?

Do you have a rooster? Could it be possible that is a fertile egg?

Sometimes that just happens. Some kind of weird blip in their egg system.

Was a rooster here but been gone at least a week. As long as its nothing to worry about. Thank you.

I had a couple of eggs like that a few months ago, but none since. It gives you a shock to see the blood if you have never seen it before. My hens tend to fly up in the air when they see me at the door and if I open it too quickly they drop down and bang their undercarriage on the step. I was wondering if they bruise themselves inside sometimes.
