Hi! I have two gals who share a coop (and two others who share a different coop). I went out today and found a bunch of bloody stool in my two older gals' coop. I also saw that one of them had a liquid stool with blood. They aren't acting sick, and one is even in broody pain right now. What should I treat for and how?

I would pick up some Corid at any farm store ASAP. This sounds like coccidiosis. If the chickens in the other coop had any contact with these, I'd treat them too. It doesn't hurt them. It's just put in their water for 5-7 days. I did the severe dosage for 7 days when ours had it.

Follow up afterward with vitamin water as it robs their Thiamin.

Do you have any pictures of the droppings? Blood in poop can be a sign of coccidiosis, especially in young chickens. Worms can be another cause. Eating rat poison or a rodent that has eaten it, or eating a sharp object would be other possible causes. It would be hard to know the exact cause. Are they eating and drinking normally? Corid can treat coccidiosis, and Valbazen is a good wormer to use.

I do have 2 pictures, I'll attach them. My two older gals will be 1 in Dec. They are drinking and eating normally and walking around when I bother them (it's hot so they sit under the coop otherwise)

If I do the severe dosage (to be safe) would it hurt them? Also for the mineral water, do I get a supplement for that?

No, it won't hurt them.

We use Nutra-Drench or Poultry Cell chick vitamins in their water. That's the easiest way. There are other forms of chick vitamins but just make sure it has Thiamin or B-complex listed.
