Bloody slaughter in my coop

My wounded boy, Blanco, is hanging in there. I am about to try the wound-treating measures, starting with the peroxide cleansing.
His injuries seem to be confined to the neck and head area. I will keep you posted. Thanks for all the support.

Is there any way you can find out if it was the neighbor's dog? I would make him pay, financially or legally!

Looking for updates. I spent some time up last night thinking about this bird, and a couple of others that are having a rough day. I hope all is well.

As for the article, you're all welcome. Too many dog attacks, horses stepping on things, possoms, etc. Might as well make it useful!

just an FYI peroxide kills good bacteria as well. Try a triple antibiotic ointment. Hope he is doing OK!

can you save something on here or do you have to copy and paste it to word or something? I couldnt find where/how to save it so I just copied and pasted to microsoft word. I hope you dont mind threehorses. how do you save here if you can? thanks.

My favorite bird Lucy was attacked by my dog. Threehorses was WONDERFUL to give such great info. My husband and I worked so hard on her for about a week. She lost the battle and we had to cull her. It was so sad. Know there are others out there that feel your pain, and give excellent advice. This site is a lifesaver.
I hope your little fighter man pulls through!

I don't mind at all- that's what it's there for. I put the author junk in there just in case someone else wanted to do that.

I always bookmark a page if i see something on it I want to save.

I have a "poultry stuff" section where I can (theoretically) find stuff quicker.

(p.s. /hugs Natalie)

Ok thanks and thats a great idea on mine you have to sign in to google to bookmark stuff and I can never remember my account info or if I even have one so I will just favorite it as well as saving it in Word

My boy, Blanco seems to be a little stronger, but I am afraid to get my hopes up just yet. My neighbor appologized over and over, for the dogs getting loose. (She is putting them down) Also offered to buy me new chickens. They also mauled one of my month-old Boer kids. She is OK, but is getting antibiotics for seven days. I hate to read all the injury and emergency posts!!

I know. It does get hard when it seems that you're only reading about injuries and attacks. Take a break and read some of the funnier posts. I had to do that to get my perspective back.
I recently had a rooster injured by a raccoon and eventually had to put him down. Glad to hear yours seems better. Is your roo eating at all? Mine's beak was damaged and I had to fix special things for him.
