Bloody Tumors????? near hen's vent - - - help!!!!!!

Since they're not hot and there's no pus, it sounds like these are growths rather than infections. Keep your eye out for new ones. If you can keep her still long enough you may try warm compresses. Blue kote, and styptic are a good idea too. You can certainly try antibiotics, but if these are growths, you won't see any results from them.
Do they break open and bleed on their own or is it just because they've been pecked at? Do they seem sore when you touch them? If they develop dark spots in the center or start to smell off, there's a chance they're spider bites. Do you have brown recluse in the area?
(Sorry if my advice is vague. I'm going off human medicine here. These really look like a bite to me.)

Thanks for all the advice! I put more neosporin on them this morning and put her back out in the yard with her friends.

I thought maybe spider bites as well, but I'm not sure how many times a spider would bite her before moving on. We do have Brown Recluse in the area as well as Black Widows . . .

I can't tell if they are bleeding because she is picking at them or if they are bleeding on their own. I don't believe the other two girls are pecking her.

She's still eating and drinking and walking around although she is not quite herself. She used to be the bossy one in the yard, but she's become much more timid during the last few months. I had thought it was just because it was winter but now I am not sure if there is something else going on.

And this is weird - she must smell differently because one of my dogs follows her around the yard sniffing her. Tillie (the dog) doesn't pay any attention to the other two, but is fascinated by Ouiser's smell. But it could also be because Ouiser's been spending so much time in the house.

And sorry for freaking out a bit. When I saw the bloody whatever they are, I went a little crazy. I just went through putting one of my dogs down and I didn't (still don't) want to think about putting another pet down. and then having to think about the logistics of putting a chicken down is a tad overwhelming right now.

No problem the weekends and nights it is hard sometimes to wait but their might not be the right people on byc at that moment I would treat with the ointment and keep an eye on it for infection now the other hens will peck if they see blood so blu-kote might work also. Good luck and sorry to hear about your dog.

i would give her antibiotics. Penicillin you can buy at local feed store.. 1cc under skin on breast for hen that size. You can give her amoxicillin or keflex if you have some in cabinet. Push pill towards back of throat and she will swallow it.

Sad news to report: I put Ouiser down. She wasn't getting any better and actually got much worse. Her face swelled up and she stopped eating. I took her to the vet, and he didn't know what was causing her symptoms but he didn't think that she was going to improve. So I had her euthanized.

My other two hens are doing fine. I checked them over for any growths/sores and nothing is amiss.

Now I am trying to decide if two is enough. I would hate to lose another girl and then have one all by herself.
