Bloody vent

How are your girls doing today?

They're doing a lot better today. We had an egg in the kennel this morning but it's hard to know which one of the two girls laid. Her vent still looks good though. Fingers crossed we are on the road to recovery.

That is very good news!!

How are things going today?

Thanks for asking. Things are going well. I noticed two days ago that my duck's vent started scabbing. I called the vet yesterday and he told me that that sounded normal to him considering how hard she strained to get the egg out last week. He suggested I start putting triple antibiotic ointment on it so we started that last night.

She's done with her medicine for Giardiasis now too so we started her on vitamins and electrolytes today to boost her immune system.

As for the duck with injured wing, she is holding it up in position now. She still has a knot but we are hoping it will start disappearing soon. I can tell that both my girls are feeling much better overall now which makes me really happy.

That's great news, I know your pleased too.

I am very pleased. Thanks for everyone's help. I hope things continue to look up for these two. Now, the next challenge is to make sure I treat the rest of the flock for Giardiasis, as they have been around her and may also have it.

Help!!! I have a hen with a bloody vent. It's actually my friends. I have my own flock and am not sure if I can spread this as I have little info on what's going on.
This is the 3 rd hen to have a bloody vent the other two died very quickly!! Yesterday she was acting tired just laying down. She was still eating and drinking . All 6 birds were purchased already laying. Any info would be great!!! I have put her in a kennel by herself with food and water. Here are the pictures I was able to get.

I want to help her! She let me pick her up without a fight and these girls are not really friendly like mine. I think her time is ticking please help? Should the whole flock be removed bleach down coops and start over? I think where they came from is a big problem. I have 14 hens and have hatched or broodied over 80 chicks this year. However I haven't come across this yet. Thank u in advance!!!! Anyone??
