BLRW Roo Decision: Should I stay or should I go?

I'm getting rid of some roos in the mornin and am totally undecided on this BLRW Roo. He is a bit over 5 mos old and the only roo I have from this breeder. I have some hens from this breeder tho. I like his comb. He seems too brassy in the hackles I think and his temperment is not the best. So do I keep him for what he could throw or do I try to get rid of the brassiness? I have some younger roos from a different breeder that don't seem to be showing the brassiness. Thanks for any and all opinions!

Well he is a pretty guy. Personally I would keep him for now because you never know how the others will turn out for sure. His type looks decent as does the rest of him.

Just wondering, is that a rumpless hen in the middle picture?

I would keep him until the others grow up for comparison. Then decide.

Also where did you get him from? He is very nice besides the brassiness. But I haven't really found any breeders that have pure red with no gold looking hackles and saddle feathers. I'm having lots of trouble. lol

Nope she's a bit wry tailed but the pics just a really odd angle onher and theyre all busy digging thru the horse poop!

Yea I think I might keep him. Insurance ya know. He's really a big boy but likes to bite hard and is already getting hard on the hens. Even grabs the little light sussex that are only 10 weeks. But I'll be able to separate him now. He likes the welsummers best! Thanks.

Alright he's spared. I just think he'd be really good eating too! And I guess I'm Hungry!
I've always heard the brassiness is something thats hard to get rid of so was a bit concerned about it. Just gettin my feet wet with the breeding. Lots to learn!
Thanks - Jane

Yea I'm pleased with the lacing. He was hatched from eggs from Jerry and Rebecca Foley. And I've got some 3month olds from Jesse Paul. So I'm thinkin I'm off to a pretty good start here! I just hope I can do their lines justice!

Yes. I am picking up 15 chicks from Bluepultry.com next week. They got their stock from the orignal bluelacedred.com. So I am hoping to get at least a trio out of 15 that doesn't have the brassiness. And I will work from there.

I might have to get some from Foley's later on to add lovely lacing. lol

Me and you are starting out together

I actually have some right now, but they are hatchery stock and just pets. I just loved them so much I wanted to breed some.

ETA: I belive Jesse Paul is bluelacedred.com haha. Looks like we will have the same lines.

I hope mine look as good as yours

I'm not real familiar with the breed, and my opinion is just that... But I think he is a gorgeous boy! I love his lacing
