Blue and Black on the same bird?

I have asil cock that on his sides and back he looks black mottled, but his breast is blue mottled. Very interesting.

Yep, looks blue to me. If it was truly black it would have a nice green or blue sheen and truly be BLACK. But, he's a darker blue from blue x black, so, he'll have some variation verging on black going on. I've got an Araucana with variance like him, where he has bright light blue on his wings, breast, and thighs - But practically blackened blue in his saddle and hackle. (if he did have a tail, I'm sure it would appear black)
