These two chicks are 13 weeks old. They were hatched from my own flock. The mixed breed cockerels from the same hatch are very clearly male at this point, have been for a while. I'm hoping for a pure Ameraucana male to help with my low fertility issues (too many females for just one rooster). Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but the darker blue shoulder feathers and shiny neck feathers on the Blue chick seem to indicate male. On close inspection none look pointed but there are new feathers coming in at the base of the tail. (It was windy so feathers are a bit ruffled). Hoping the Splash is a pullet but noticed today the comb is a bit pink. Their father was very slow to mature. Thoughts?
