Blue and White Holstein cows-Updated to tell the breeding side

Beautiful cow! Can you post a side view of the cow to get the whole pic?

Just beautiful and hope you will increase your stock numbers....they look like they are hard to come by.

By the way, what did they cross to get the blue gene? I am guessing Holstein with a blue roan breed..

They are a cross of Black and White Holstein and Milking Shorthorn. Ususally the first breeding you get a black and white uniquely marked animal.
Alice here is an example:

Then if you get a heifer you would breed her to a Milking Shorthorn to get the blue. My problem is the blue ones tend to be bulls. The heifers tend to end up either black or red like Ruby.

Ruby was in heat yesterday and I had her bred back to a Black and White Holstein. This is what I was told to do to hopefully get a blue calf (heifer?).

The cows are in the barn right now so that is as much of a side view as I can get.

Very pretty. The family I worked for has a herd of registered Milking Shorthorns and they have some of the prettiest red roans. I bet if you crossed one of them with a Holstein, you'd end of with a beautiful blue roan.

You should at any rate-just make it a black and white holstein. That would be working it from the Milking Shorthorn side where I'm working from the Holstein side.
