Through a comedy of errors on the feed store and my own part, I ended up with a group of Blue Andalusians.
They are about 4 weeks old now and it appears that of the straight run, I ended up with 1 blue cockerel, 2 blue pullets, 1 splash pullet, 1 black pullet. Couldn't have done that if I tried! Nice little assortment there.
This is especially impressive considering I ordered these as a barred rock, a light brahma...and one was sold as a "white ameracuana". Go figure! I knew the order had gone wrong at the feed store but the blues were so darn cute, I just went with it and added the other blues onto the purchase for kicks.....
The cockerel is VERY obvious. His comb is huge and he has wattles already. One of the blues was questionable due to leg and body size but has not had any real comb growth while the obvious one is doubling by the week.
I am due for new pics, of course
I'm not all that familiar with Blue Andalusians, although I have seen a few pictures of them. Anything I should know? I am planning on keeping these as a group and seeing what comes of it. I'm aware of the blue genetics, only as far as blue x blue gives blue, black and splash. Blue x splash gives blue and splash, black x splash gives all blue, etc. That is about it.
Any info? Help? tips? ideas?
