Blue barred rock roo - 4 months

You all are going to think I'm crazy, but I have a barred rock chick that looks lavender. The black barring is diluted and I'm wondering if he could pass that on. It's very beautiful. Maybe I'll get in on this project. I'm tempted to go out to the coop to take a picture of him right now. You think he'll mind if I wake him up for a photo shoot?

ETA: Yeah...he really wasn't too happy. Here he is next to another cockeral for comparison.

i crossed an ee rooster w/my cuckoo marans hens......i was surprised to see i got the same results as in ur pics above. I have one that is cuckooed w/muffs. one that is almost totally blue/gray and one that looks faded barring as in previous pick. SO what happens if u breed these bluish birds to each other? just curious

They are about 6 weeks old. I got the eggs from some local breeders. They actually just gave them to me b/c I wanted to test out the new bator and they had a surplus of eggs. I never bothered to ask about the lines. They breed a lot of nice birds, though, so I would venture to say that they are not hatchery stock.

The barring seems limited to his hackle and saddles in hte photo--is it really that way? I have a similarly barred hackle blue bird and am wondering about the genetics that restrict the barring to just the hackle (and in your case saddle).
