Blue Brahma project

Yeah- that was my guy. He came from Thom Dean of MO. He ended up bleeding a ton of red, so I sold him to a local guy. He has him covering a flock of light brahmas. I hope to hear from him next season and see what he came up with. Nellabeans hen came from the same breeder. I wonder if Dean knows about this.

The darker blue cochin boy I got from crossing my big blue rooster and the light splash hen is also bleeding a ton of red. Interesting since neither mom nor dad have any red bleeding through. Definitely showing on the youngun though. I sold the light blue boy from the same cross, so not sure if he is bleeding red or not. What about the one you got from me?

No- the blue roo here has no red showing (yet). He's so cute! With the pea-combed splash guy it didn't show up until he was quite big. I have a blue girl hatched from the same line of birds, and so far she's clear too. The red leakeage seems to show up more on males, from what I've heard. I still have no clue how they ended up with pea combs. If 2 out of the 8 I got from Dean had it- something's up!

My big splash roo has a tiny bit of red in his wing triangles, but I've been putting him over mostly black hens (just one blue) to see if it makes a difference. Haven't hatched too many chicks though because it was a mixed coop and I kept getting cochin x's

ha- I just saw that post. Did you get him in Bledsoe County?

Yeah I think it was you happy Mtn that I got him from along with the BBS orpington trio. I have hatched a couple settings from them and got a couple more to hatch pretty soon. They are growing pretty nice and are going to have the darker streaks like a brahma around their necks.
