Blue/Brown Eggs, Easter/Christmas Eggs - Getting my craft on!!

I can't find bead caps at Joanns or Michaels with holes in the middle big enough to get a string through to string the thing up with... very frustrating. I know I can order them on Ebay, but I wanted to give some as teacher gifts this week.

Great eggs everyone!

never underestimate fishing line... lol... you can use it to string through the egg and if you thread it through a needle, you can go through the hanging ribbon then back out the bottom of the egg and then tie it off... you have end caps and hanging ribbon all attached in one shot with no glue needed...

Here are my attempts.

My EEs have quit laying so I only had three green eggs to work with. Two of them look like this-

One now looks like this-

It did not survive the fall to the floor.

I dont get it how does the blowing thing work. What about the yolk? Illustrations plez for the dumb girl.

It takes some practice. My method is to poke both ends with a needle then gently pick away at the hole to make it a bit bigger. Then the key is to use something long and thin enough to get all the way into the egg to stir it around as this will break up the yolk inside and make it much easier to blow out.

I use a paper clip that I straightened out

, washed well of course.

Those are really pretty. The one with the zipper made me laugh!

Sorry to see such a pretty egg broken like that. I lost my egg with Sally from Charlie Brown last night and got so mad. It is so frustrating to get it all finished then break it. I didn't drop mine. Put too much pressure on it putting on the last snowflake.

Thanks! The zipper one makes me laugh too. That one is staying here. The others are gifts for people that already know I'm crazy.

I dropped that one while I was getting it ready to go in the gift box. (Michael's has small hard cardboard gift boxes that are just egg size. It answers the question my sister posed as to how to store them from one year to the next. The boxes were less than a dollar each and are really pretty.)
The really frustrating part of that was that I had just spent the previous hour trying to deter the very interested cats. I was sure one of them was going to break one. Dodger is a swatter and he likes to see eggs spin. Of course then I was the one that broke one.

As for blowing them out, I have found that a long upholstery needle works great. It's stiff enough to get a good pressure out off and just the right diameter to not crack the shell. It makes a perfect little hole.
