Blue/Brown Eggs, Easter/Christmas Eggs - Getting my craft on!!

I still don't understand how you all are getting these ribbons & cords down into and back out the bottom of your eggs!!!???!!!
Perhaps I didn't understand, my holes are VERY SMALL... I thought that was the goal... so small I couldn't fit the skewers in when I was painting them..
I made these corkscrew style pipe cleaner hangers for the first ones I did.

Well... I haven't given up... I finally found some pretty rub ons that I liked, I have two packs and almost a dozen eggs set aside. I will try a larger hole? I guess.. and hope someone explains the obvious to me before I get started. I have lots of decorations, beads, jingle bells, ribbons etc already so once I know how, I am sure we can accommodate without even going back to the store!

Off to go finish the formal dress now...

then.. these eggs & getting our Christmas tree up are next!

THOSE are the ingredients I've been missing! So some of you are using a need to thread the ribbon or cord through the egg?? THat makes so much sense!!

I don't bother with going inside the egg. I use super glue gel on all mine and it holds good enough that I use the beads as handles while I paint them with the mod podge. If you put the modpodge on first the super glue will give it a dull look. I just glue my ribbon to the inside of the bead.

Oh my! I have driven myself crazy feeding that line thru! I should have figured that they would never be heavy enough to puul off! I have used 3 different kinds of fishing line!

I don't use a needle. I have one of those long twist ties that came around stereo wire. I made a loop and pulled the ribbon through then treaded the wire from one whole to the next. Some I looped the ribbon over half a toothpick, put the toothpick into the egg hole and gently pulled the ribbon to lodge the pick into place.

So I got busy on my eggs yesterday and wanted to share my creations.
I didn't have any foam to stick these in so I punched holes in an old whipped topping drum and put some sand in it to weigh it down. Looks like this:

and here's a little fart egg I decorated for my neice:

so I'm curious... I've broken more eggs while doing the rub ons then I've actually completed. I'm wondering if I could do the rub ons first then blow them out and dry them in the oven? What do y'all think?

When I apply the rub ons, I set the egg on a really soft, handmade hotpad. This allows me to have 2 hands for holding and applying the rub on. I cracked quite a few when I was trying to hold it while rubbing on the designs. Try it...it may work for you.
