Blue/Brown Eggs, Easter/Christmas Eggs - Getting my craft on!!

I used the spray on acrylic, and used 2-3 light coats. When I tried thick coats of anything , I got runs

Kymberly, last year I started in September and made over 100 of these darn things. I did cheat, however, and bought a lot of my eggshells off of ebay

I'm having OK luck with store bought eggs. I use a dremel to burr a single hole and a syringe to suction out contents. Then lightly frost them with a metallic spray paint. It seems to lend them some strength prior to rub-ons. My blue Ameraucana eggs are the stongest. I've dropped those and had them survive.

HELP ME! Oh goodness I am not crafty at all. I managed to superglue my fingers together (I'm afraid of myself using a hot glue gun and boyfriend is at work) while attaching the bell, AND managed to glue the bell ringie thing to the egg... but whatever.

My biggest issue: how in heck do I get the ribbon tied off? I'm in need of explicit directions.

I did this with most of mine, too. Gives them a metallic-speckled appearance--very pretty and cool!

Superchemicalgirl--that looks awesome! Great job. Not sure how to knot your ribbon, though. Can you overlap the ends and glue it to itself? Maybe use a tweezers to hold the ends together?

I just spent the better part of a gloriously sunny afternoon reading through this entire thread! I've made my list of essentials and feel armed enough to charge through our craft stores (Michael's and Hobby Lobby) and load the carts full of tools to get this project underway. I have been throwing my gorgeous eggs out because I had to treat the entire flock with corid and antibiotics! If I just thought about this craft sooner they wouldn't have been wasted!

I am so impressed by the eggs shown on this thread. WTG crafters! If I can successfully blow an egg out and decorate it, I hope to post my own pics on here. Crossing my fingers this won't be a waste of time! Ever watched Bob Ross paint a picture and then think if he can do it, I can too? I'm afraid that's what we might have going on here! I can not paint realistic "happy" clouds!

First of all...this made me laugh. Second...I'm not really grasping the concept either. I figured it would be trial and error for me. If someone can post a clear idea, I would sure be grateful. My issue is I don't understand where the ends of the ribbon go. Does that make sense?

HAHA Muggs you'll do fine Im just finishing my last bunch for a craft show next week:) I always save all my eggs from treatments for egg blowing-its perfect.....I dont do them all year but I will save them blow them out and then save the empty blown out eggs until I start doing the decorated parts. I was sitting on over 100 blown out eggs for months before I finally got the mother load of rub ons:)

ok what I do-is put the ends of the ribbon into the top of egg-like 1/8 of an inch or more-then hot glue dollop on the hole and ribbon and then press the bead cap on it with a toothpick so my fingers dont get burned. The bottom of egg with hole in it I put a drop of hot glue over hole and again press on bead cap.

Muggs,
I got either a science or math gene substituted for every "girlie" gene I was supposed to have. Betty Crocker gene... nope. Martha Stewart gene... oh lord no. I can't even draw a stick figure. And my eggs don't look awful...

If you can hold something steady and rub a stick on it you can do this!

Can't wait to see yours.
