Blue/Brown Eggs, Easter/Christmas Eggs - Getting my craft on!!

Here is a bird I made a few years ago. I sold them at easter, I made them in a bunch of colors and sold them for 10 dollars. They had hangers on them but this one the hanger fell off, it's been moved around so much and now it just lays in my cabinet.

This one is one of the crummy ones I made. So it was ok that it fell apart. LOL Now I don't use brushes to paint my eggs with I use makeup sponges, you dab the paint on and it comes out so even. And I do about 4 coats on each egg. Then I usually put triple coat on them or I spray them with a shinny finish or dip them in water based polyurathane. These are made from chicken eggs because there is no cutting on them. I drilled a small hole on each side for the feather to stick into and 3 small holes on the end of the egg for the tail. Really easy to make.

Used the triple thick tonight. Gorgeous!! Got keep wipin off drips bough. Hope it smooths out more at the bottom when it dries. And hope I can get them off the dowels:fl

Thanks for the tip!!

Keep moving the egg up side down and then right side up that evens out the drips too. I don't leave my eggs on the doll rods, I took a large meat tray, one of those styrofoam ones and I poke nails through it and I set my egg on that, you never see the little dips from the nails and if you do you can sand them off with very fine sand paper. You also might have to sand the drip off too. But the more finer the sandpaper the better. People who do decopage eggs use a micro fine sandpaper but I don't remember where they got it from. They put at least 30 coats of finish on their eggs and sand after each coat dries. I'm not into sanding!!!!!!!!! LOL Can't wait to see your egg.

Thanks. These are just simple eggs with misted silver paint with assorted small feathers glued on. I'm making some ornaments to be auctioned off at crossroads show for faverolles club. Some have just little design stickers on them. Learning as I go so some not so gorgeous. Others meh.... Still all are at least likable.

Well everyone starts somewhere and the more you do the better you get. They sound wonderful. I think they will go really well. Here is a place you can look around for supplies, it's a really nice site and there might be something you can use.

He has everything. And if you order something he gets it out that very day. I buy allot of stuff from him.

Here's my tree topper. Its supposed to be a star. You cant see the hot glue as much in person and I think I am also going to clear coat it.
