Blue chickens thread

Yes, the barred part is blue. Technically speaking a blue barred chicken is solid blue, just light vs darker blue. However a REALLY good barred bird would be white and blue striped instead of light vs darker blue.


If a chicken carries the blue gene it's got blue and thus qualifies as blue

I think the OP prefers seeing birds with more blue than other colors though

I'm so jealous! I want more rare birds with great coloring. They don't even have to be that rare. Unfortunately, 5 is the limit : / I have a blue andalusian, white leghorn, i think silver leghorn, wheaten ameraucana, and blue laced red wyandotte. I would love to trade the leghorns in but I can't separate them from the blue andalusian. They just aren't as social with us as the others. Perhaps time will persuade pops we need more

Illia, the Blue Partridge Brahma is gorgeous. I just wish it was bantam...

(LF Brahmas are just too...large for me).

ETA: in truth and completeness, they're all beautiful, I'm just on a Bantam Brahma kick this week.

I have NO idea what he is. "He" was supposed to be a "she", and supposed to be a "blue cochin", then the comb came in, then the wattles, and the beard..... I was told he might be part of a Lemon Blue project, but that doesn't explain the beard and the barring??? I just have a giant blue bearded barred misfit!!! Faverolle would be cool?? The chick came from someone who bought it off of someone.....etc...LOL. WHO knows!! All I know is I have a big, bearded, barred, fluffy, oddball rooster!!! But I love him.
