Blue-Coat question

Can I use blue coat on a chest wound on my muskovy? It is in a spray can - any suggestions on application if ok to use? Thanks!

I wouldnt have realised what blue coat was if I hadnt been reading through a very old thread from January late last night. I had made mention of a spray I use- and the American equivalent was discussed in response. Its basically the same as I products I use here in Australia on any wounds on animals. Many people on here use it on their chickens for a few different reasons.
Being that it does stain the skin ( and feathers ) - it would be harder to see if there is any sign of infection developing. A course of antibiotics to go with the bluecoat is what I would recommend if taking her to a vet isnt possible. Not too sure on exactly what kind of antibiotics you guys can get from the feed stores, but I have read of a few different ones being available.

Well the bottle says it for surface wounds, cuts and other things as well. But it also says for deep puncture wounds to consult vet. What kind of chest wound is it? Just a cut or is it a gash?? More detail would probably help to get a general idea as to the type of injury.

I can tell you that the feathers will stay purple until a molt or about a year later. My silly white BBW turkey has had purple feathers since spring

Also, wear gloves...even though it's in a spray bottle, if you hold up feathers to coat the area your fingers will no doubt become purple as well....and that takes about a week to go completely away.
