Blue Copper Maran? Or mix?

Got this rooster as a chick, supposed to be a blue copper maran. I am going to breed it with bcm's to get 50/50 blue and black. I just wanted confirmation that this is a blue. Not sure because of the spotted patterns on his back... He is about 28 to 30 weeks old.

He's definitely not a blue copper. He might be a cross between a blue copper and a cuckoo marans.

That is what I was afraid of... They had cuckoo's too... Now I have to find a new rooster... dang.

What do you get if you cross a Black copper maran and a birchen maran?

Definitely not a Blue Copper Marans. I'm not sure what you get when you cross a BCM and Birchen Marans, but I'm thinking that it would simply be a mixed variety.

Could he possibly be a blue version of a golden cuckoo? I guess the way to find out would be to do some test breeding and see what his pullet offspring lay, but that's a long end game.
