Blue earlobes, and strange egg laying issues — what's going on?

I think its egg binding, the calcium could fix it. if your using acv in the water to much of it can cause this. it can also be caused by hens being way to fat.

make sure she has plenty of water, the blue earlobes can also be from lack of oxygen. check down her throat for any blockages, make sure her breathing is fine.

anytime I have an older (more than a year) bird who gets sick, I typically put some vet rx in her water and under her wings. this opens their respiratory system something like peppermint or vick's salve does for us. the extra oxygen helps healing.

my biggest concern - is she still bleeding at her vent? if she is you may need antibiotics.

best of luck and keep me updated,
brian

hi everybody, just an update that my hen is doing SO much better after a calcium and vitamin boost over the past couple weeks. her comb is dark, but it doesn't seem to be affecting her in any way, she's very perky and healthy. she has better looking eggs, she's not struggling to lay them, and she's laying them in the right places again. i had no idea she was so deficient, we raise them so well. i guess she's a big layer for a little hen, and that's depleting on her, she needs a bit of extra boost.
