I am using a Brinsea High intensity ova view on the bottom and an led flashlight candler from Incubator warehouse on top(eggs are big end up).
Both of them are cool led lights so they do not cook the eggs. I normally use the Brinsea on the bottom up eggs in the incubator to check the air cell and to look for veins.
Hello All, Just lurking out here for now. Spent some time in the shadows of this thread last year and have returned. Getting ready for retirement and have found some land in Arkansas. We'll be south of Ft Smith about 40 minutes on the Oklahoma border backed up against the National Forest of the Ouachita Mtns. We currently have some EE hens for laying blue eggs along with HRIR and some various Marans. I think when we get moved up to Arkansas late next year we will have to get some of these Blue Egg Layers to replace the EE. Will be sulking in the shadows until we get moved. Mike
very niceYou've got to love these birds.... Below zero the last two nights, high temp today was 20 and they just keep laying. 7 eggs in the last 4 days from my two pullets including 4 in the last 2 days.
Donna, mine are on the flighty side but i never handled them when young... As for 300 eggs per year... Mine have been been really consistent since they started late last summer but i havent kept s log. I give the 13 hours of light during the winter and they havent missed a beat. I am confident that i get at least 5 eggs a week from each ( i have two) and have not gone a day with at least one egg since they started. Those that have these birds what is there temperament? I need to hatch some for someone and thought I MIGHT want to keep some. Do they really put out 300 eggs a year? Even with molting?
