blue hatching partridge? ~PICS~

You can't tell the quality of a chick. My black pair came from Bobbi Porto, and the roo would be SQ if he wasn't so mean. Every Silkie color except white was made by using other breeds, so the colors aren't purely pure.

I swear it seems ALOT of partridgey chicks are hatching out of blues and BBS pens this year. I got 2 from someone who got eggs from a good source here on BYC and they came out of a SQ/BQ BBS pen. A few other folks have had the random partridges pop up out of the BBS pens as well.

You can not tell the quality of the chick - you can only see small Disqualifying trains like cross beak and toe faults as a chick...

i'm meaning with the adults. does it mean there not good quality? so it this a good thing or bad thing?

it just means that more than likely both the parents have recessive traits to create partridge. If they look good - their quality is good - however if you were to sell the parenting pair I would be upfront and let the buyer know they do throw the odd partridge. Theres nothing wrong with them, they just aren't from pure blue lines but nothing is wrong with that.

I got 8 eggs from kasey and can't wait till they hatch. Only one more week and 8/8 showing good results. They will be my 1st silkies and 1st ones I've seen in person. But my question is what does bbs mean? Doesn't SQ mean show quality and BQ mean breeder quality?
