all this means is you got some nice stew comming up im sure ther eis pleanty of meat on them jersey giants i got some in the bator now they are cheaper then turkeys lol

Bock_Bock, they will have alot of meat after a year or two...but by the time it's on there, the meat is tough as boot-leather. The frame builds up first THEN the muscling starts up.
 
Originally they were developed for meat. The original breeders thought "hey! bigger bird...more meat!" Thing is...you have to WAIT for the meat to appear. Also, along with the size, the egg production went down. So their egg production is not high on the scales either.

Nowadays they are kept mainly as decorative lawn fixtures. People like to look at how big they are and how gentle they are.
