Blue Laced Red Cornish Large Fowl Project Eggs

Gary how old are the birds when they are culled for the freezer? I mean what's the youngest you would do that without having a boney bird? The pure whiteas hatched are just like the CX's right? do they grow as fast and such??

as a breeder of Cornish I will assure you these birds do not grow fast. They are very slow to develop. The good news is I am out of the bidding. I was only going to improve on the Blues and blue laced birds as I raise Standard Whites, WLR, Darks, Bantam Darks WLR Whites, soon to have Jeffs Cash Blue lines in Self blues and BLR. and waiting for more Standard eggs from kentucky. and WLR from chris tamayo.
You have some really nice birds here sorry to drop out so early. . If you ever decide to sell eggs outright. Feel free to PM me and I will buy them for a decent price.

your winning? You didnt drop out ...yet hahaha

Ps thank you for the answer-I figured they were slow to develope-I have raised Cx's before and did not enjoy the rapidness of it at all. I'd preferr the slower growers...

Kind of hard to say, as these are first generation cross back to pure Cornish. On the male side of the line, decent layers. Now the pure Cornish on the female side is not likely to improve that much. So far these pullets are laying good, but I doubt anybody is going to confuse them with leghorns in the long run.

While a processed bird will look similar to a commercial CX on the table, these guys are very different. They are slower growing, much more active, non of the typical broiler leg issues. I really can't give you guess on processing age, it will be considerably later than what you can expect with a "blob" as my daughters use to call their meat pen broilers they raised for 4H. One advantage to these guys is you can reproduce you own.

Thats exactly what I was looking for:) At what age do you see them laying eggs? Has fertility ever been an issue due to their size?

big medicine is always pulling something new out of his ?headdress?
very nice!!
now I understand the thing about crazy and cornish on your tag line.

With Dad's old white Cornish male fertillity did get to be an issue. I don't think it will be an issue with these guys, more leg and genetic diversity.

They are slow maturing, not as slow as the Brahmas, but they are a large bird.

Sonew - I accidently hit the bid button mhmmm the devil made me do it i was powerless really wasnt my fualt.

To answer the egg production question With Standard whites there has been fertility issues. But darks havent been much a problem for egg production for me. Rarely do you have fertility issues in darks. I would bet his birds lay decent 3-5 eggs a week basing this on his crossing and my experience with this breed. Like he said there no leghorn But I bet they produce well.
