Blue Laced Red Cornish Large Fowl Project Eggs

GREAT! I just ordered eggs that will keep my bators and brooder full for another month! Just tease me now. I feel a hot flash coming on they are so gorgeous! You are on my list for as soon as I get things opened up and save up my egg money. I am SO hooked on Cornish.
Good luck with this one, looks like you are going to do well.

I ordered 3 cockerels from McMurray last year just so I could have a Cornish roo for my hatchery girls I got from a neighbor. By the time my chicks from MM arrived, my birds were dead from my stinking dogs, who by the way, went out to eat the chicken feed every day through the winter. They found some Starlings that had froze to death during a cold snap, got the taste of feathered things and then decided our chickens might taste really good. Lost all of the DC hens I had. But I have one roo left and he is my favorite (see my avatar) even though he is not a real good specimen of a Cornish. The other two, I put in the freezer in mid-July. So they were about 18-weeks, were free range, and dressed out about 3-1/2 pounds. They were delish! One of the things I love about the Cornish is that I can have an excellent meat bird for those I need to cull. Love 'em love 'em, can't get enough of them.
I broke down and bought MM's White Laced Reds too just to have some, and I have 11 of 16 eggs still with a week to go from Sands of the DCs. I know that I am talking hatchery, but I have to start somewhere, and all you Cornish breeders don't like to share eggs too often.

I should think not, especially since I am intent on being one.

They have been the one breed I had my eye on long before I started raising chickens. I just love them. My first hens were so nice, not the friendliest due to lack of handling, but they were just the nicest things to watch ranging around the place. I have 2 out of them that were bred with a handsome EE roo, and the offspring of the only 3 eggs I set were 2 pullets with DC markings, green legs and a beard while the cockerel was marked more like his dad with yellow legs and no beard. Was too funny to see how that turned out. I still have the two pullets that lay me nice green eggs but the cockerel went in the freezer and has long since been eaten. He was about 3 1/4 at 18-weeks.

Dangit, Gary...you've let the worm of envy loose in my brain and I can't get that Chanté project out of my head. You'll have to toss in a couple of blues for me, though.
