We are offering for the first time eggs from a joint project that Dad and I are working on. These birds are out of good white Cornish hens and a clean legged cock that came from my blue laced red Brahma project that showed strong Cornish influence. As a result these birds all carry recessive white, and should produce 25% white chicks. We have two pens, one with blue laced hens and cock. The second with a blue laced cock over black laced(dark) hens. Both pens should produce the same % of blue chicks. Figuring equal amount of eggs from both pens combined should produce roughly
38% blue laced chicks
28% black laced chicks
25% white chicks
9% splash laced chicks
These birds are built like the proverbial brick outhouse, with a little looser feather than one would find on a good Cornish, combined with a pea comb, making them a potentially good cold weather meat bird. We selected a little longer legged male in the all blue laced pen with the intention of avoiding potential fertillity issues that is thought to be related to extreme short legged SQ males.
