Blue Laced Red Wyandotte THREAD!

ok finally got a couple pics of jmarie's chick's sib... i'll let you all decide. they hatched the same day, but this one's taking FOREVER!!!

not great ones, as he was trying to figure out how to get OUT of the house... without swimming apparently.

usually slow feathering as a roo thing, but the comb has NO development other than a bit of color... thoughts? also, don't roos usually have poor lacing on the shoulders? this one's getting great lace coming in. pretty sure he's black based tho (he until proven otherwise...) and no, he's not orange... it's the fluorescent light over the pond that's doing it... (indoor pond)

oh, and I've gotten a few PM's... no eggs for a while, both girls are broody.

I like this birds body construction so far. Round. I also like the wide feathering coming in. This one looks black to me also. I see the deep brown red. Very nice. The birds color and lacing will fill in nice. Pretty leg color for this age. In a month or three..more Mahogany and less black on the lacing. Nice neck.

wow my brother has been feathered for about 2 weeks now. He has been outside with the big girls since about 4 weeks because he was flying out of the baby bin. he also got those super red wattles at about 3 weeks. luckily no crowing or even an attempt yet!

grrr on a separate note, my border collie (see photo bomb) got ahold of one of my astrolorps (who decided she was too good for the chicken sanctuary) and plucked out a ton of feathers. He does not bite or maim, just joyfully plucks feathers. I nu stocked the bald areas and she if fine but grrrrrr

Yeah, their combs/wattles are too red and developed at 3mos to be pullets. Can see some saddle feathers too. If you're only gonna get $5 back maybe at a swap you may as well cook em up in a month or two... Just my 0.02$

All of my birds feathered early, yes the pullets feathered faster, but by 5 weeks or so, they had the majority of their feathers. i contribute it to their Temp coop which i had in a shed of mine, it was a large cage like enclosure with a heat lamp only on colder nights. they adjusted great to the temp growing their feathers. plus i have 12, so if needed they slept huddled. if it got below 60, I'd plug in light.
