Sorry, forgot to turn picture

Wish I could help but this is one variety that always stumps me for some reason.
I had a really nice big bird growing up that I could have swore was going to be a roo and even at 12 weeks had it out free ranging when a customer came up and said "nice pullet"!
I mean I looked at pointed hackle feathers, saddle feathers, comb, feet, everything and I saw roo but sure enough she is in my BLRW pen and lays eggs. Big honking girl, too.

On yours I see girl in 1st pic and roo is second but like I said, this is one variety that I really can't tell. SLW, yes. Saddle feathers always tell me which ones and they wattle out better.

Others will chime in and help you out, I am sure. Don't trust what I say on this one.

Amy,

What line are your blrw? Oh yeah, I'm getting a breeding flock of birds from the Foley line this weekend. They were bought as chicks from Foley. Pretty cool huh

Thank you and I am hoping you are correct about pullets....

I'm kind of just going by waddle and comb at this point. At 10 weeks, I'd expect to see more on males than females.
This is my 9 week old roo. My two 9 week old pullets don't have nearly the comb/waddle that my boys do. Plus, the boys just act like boys. LOL
I wish I had a good picture of my pullets.
I notice that the back and tail feathers are very different between boys & girls, too, at 9 weeks.

Yeah, neither of mine have waddles/comb that look that red or anywhere close to it....I am going to try to get some better pics later.....

I can't really tell from that picture. A good profile shot is better. Or one from the top looking down on their entire body.
I know how hard it is to get good pictures, I had an almost impossible time when I tried on Monday.

To me, a pullet's back/tail looks like a deck of playing cards that have been fanned out. They are consistent in size and shape and come out in a cone shape.
A little guy's back/tail has a rougher look to it, with longer, more slender feathers. Then they develop the start of their bigger tail feathers and they kind of stick out there and look much different than a pullet's.

It's easier to tell them apart when you have some of each gender to compare side by side.
