Blue Laced Red Wyandotte THREAD!

I totally adore this breed and haven't found a color in them I do not like but the BLRW seems to sell the best. They are so pretty I can't bear to eat my extra roos. Here are a few photos I snapped yesterday of ones growing up.

Here is Guy, my main man. He is the most loveable roo! Every time he sees me when he is out free ranging he will come running as if I have a treat or something. I only give treats when they are penned and they only free range about 2 hours a day. He lets me run my hands down his back and sides when curling around my legs. What a fella!

Not a problem. I am in no hurry to sell him. He is so nice that I would not mind keeping him even in my free range flock but I already have so many breeds of roos that are great that I know I need to let some go. If someone needs one and I can part with them, I do. DH told me to hang on to him, of course. But he is the reason I have so many now! LOL He likes to be an armchair breeder. I do all the work and he just snoopervises!

I have had such miserable luck this year. I still haven't been able to hatch a single BLR, I vow I WILL get one! I would love to get some of the Foley's BLR but since I'm in Canada and ooh about 10 hours from the border I don't think that is going to happen anytime soon.

You have a good eye!

I bought eggs from Fern of Joyful Hearts Farm.

She said these eggs came from her Jerry Foley flock. You can see the beauty on these birds. Certainly dual purpose which is what I like but the roos are too lovely to put in a killing cone. Thank goodness I only had one roo to hatch out!
I believe the girls will add a lot to my breeding flock.
