Blue Laced Red Wyandotte THREAD!

Maybe this question was asked, but I can't read through all these pages!!! I have 6 BLRW and they are all PULLETS! I also have 6 GLW of which a couple are cockerels. Can I put a GLW rooster over a BLRW hen and still get BLRW? Will this help strengthen the blue and red to keep the offspring getting too light?

it'll dilute the dark red that they're supposed to have, but if you're diligent in weeding out any gold offspring, you could get back to red soon enough. and the gold might help your type, if they're show quality birds, not hatchery variety.

You can also use the "search this thread" function, gold is mentioned many times in this thread. It'l end up doing the opposite of what you want.

You would be years and dollars ahead if you took the time and invested in a beautiful BLRW roo for your girls.

Yikes! every single chick I just hatched is splash! Does anyone have a young black laced red cockerel?

I have a 4 week old Black laced red but I am thinking it may be female.. My others hatch March 10th. I don't want any of the males so maybe you would want them. I am in the North GA mountains.

My cute little day old Wyandotte chicks (only 2) that we let one of our AG broody pullets hatch. Moms or either BLR or GL & dads or either our BLR or the black lace roo. Just trying to get more future laying hens at this point. I don't have enough pens to separate the colors, maybe in the future, :fl they were hatched 3/2/13

If you make a trip my direction I think I have 3-4 little black laced red roos. They are about 3-4 months... might have some younger.

That's great news as well. If Flowebh somehow does'nt manage any roos in her next hatch, I will likely make my way over to pick a a couple. Thanks!
