Blue Laced Red Wyandotte THREAD!

So the black color on the tips isn't the tell? Ive been reading this whole thread.

I picked out these four from a total of 12 and they were definitely black laced compared to others that were blue laced. I didn't realize the whole bird would be black.

Sometimes as chicks they look black laced and then the blue starts coming in when they get a little older. If there is any blue on the bird, they are (or will be) blue laced.

Better pictures. I think I have two black and two blue? What do you think? I see the green tint in two of them. I never noticed it before. Where can I find the show quality coloring for all three variations? Not that I would ever show. I just want to know what I'm looking for.

The black ones look gold laced. The last two pics look like blue w/ gold but I don't see any red on them except maybe some in the second to last pic.

I thought Gold Laced maybe but the guy said all he ordered was BLRW's. They are 11 months now. He was losing his chickens to varmits and sold everything he had. They sure are pretty no matter what they are. I am a Wyandotte fan. I have 12 BLRW chicks coming in a couple weeks. I may need to start over if I want purebreds.

I probably would. There have been a couple of ads recently on BST for hatching eggs. Even better if you can get chicks from quality stock!

I am interested in taking one or two of my birds to a show in my area. I have never shown before and have some questions on registering and cooping in etc. I know my birds are far from perfect but I want to learn as much as I can and meet other breeders. Also I want to know my birds faults and what I need to work on.

When I fill out the form since these are BLRW I understand that they can only be shown AOV is that correct? So I would put AOV under variety? Also when cooping in do I bring the birds into the show the first day at a certain time? Do they assign you a cage in advance? Do you leave your birds there for the entire weekend? I guess I am just asking for an overview of the process so that I have an idea of what to do and expect. Any tips? I know these are total beginner questions and well, that is what I am. I hope that someone with experience will consider mentoring me a bit here!

Thanks!

I would appreciate a link if you know where I can buy eggs. Thanks

Hi, I have been on this site many times but just joined today. I would like to get some opinions on my rooster. I believe my hens are top notch but got my roo from another flock. Please give me your opinion about him. Should I replace him? His neck feathers are a little lighter than I would like. I have my first 2 babies from him now and plan on hatching more soon. Thanks for your input!
From the pictures it looks as though all your birds are more golden-red rather than mahogany-red which is desired. It may be the light/computer screen though.
