Blue Laced Red Wyandotte THREAD!

I see, I just love the splash color, I would love to see my Whole flock that color!
the problem with that is you lose the intensity of the deep reds, since the splash gene also does affect the red pigments as well. to keep the red nice and deep it's helpful to go back to a black laced red now and then.

I'm guessing you are referring to my roos?
Here are some more pictures I just took.

This one is of the blue roo next to a poor quality gold laced, she's said to be 10 weeks.

Now the splash roo. I did notice his legs aren't a good yellow, more of a pinky yellow.

Some updated pictures of my 16wk olds. I am still at a loss at determining gender on these two.
Is it still too early?
Thanks!!

#2 Weighs considerably less and walks with a lifting tail a lot.

Sometimes I am afraid to be honest. My opinion is just an opinion. I do not give it to hurt feeling. I do not want people breeding birds if they think they have good birds to breed and they don't. This breed needs tons of work going in the right direction and we need more people going in the same direction. Perhaps this might help more than I possibly could.

My opinion is:

Do not use the splash for breeding. I am sure he will make a wonderful pet or meal.

I would give your other bird some time and reevaluate in 3 or 4 months. He needs to fill out more. Some things I like, something I do not like. Is this bird a litter mate to the splash? They both seem to have the same type of smaller head.

They look so tiny..at that age they should have huge wattles if they are males. I can hardly see yours at all. I suck at sexing birds and I am really bad at Wyandottes. I think my whole flock is male till they drop an egg or crow, than I know for sure. I am going to say you have two pullets.

Thank you for your opinion! I might just use the Splash over my other hens to produce more laying hens/and meat birds just for my family and people in town. Once you said orange I went and looked up splash roos and he does look a bit orange. I am unsure of them being litter mates, I know the lady said she bred them from her flock so I'm assuming they are from different hens maybe the same roo? I am thinking her flock came from Meyers Hatchery, if that gives you any info. I just like the looks of the blrw and will mostly breed to add to my flock for more layers, I rearly sell eggs or chicks, but I figured if I would ever want to breed them and sell chicks I'd like to have a nice looking bird that would sell easily. So, I will take your advise and not use the splash over blrw hens, which I don't have as of yet...Still looking for nice hens, hatching eggs or chicks.
