Blue Laced Red Wyandotte THREAD!

Quote: wow. around here anything taking out livestock is considered pest and therefore no permits are required to remove them. that goes for possums raccoons and everything up to coyote bobcats and domestic dogs.

here too, but you need permission to feed it out to a preserve or any type of zoo/animal preserve.

In Texas I can shoot/trap as many bobcats as I want any time of the year. Same regulatons for racoon, possum, fox, coyote, skunk or any other "varmint".

I love this state!

Alrighttt so i just hatched out 7 of these little hopefuls.... They are now about a month old and combs and colors are starting to show... I know some basic facts about this breed and variety for example the BLRW are the prettiest Wyandottes there are!! haha. Anyways, here's a few of them...these were Ebay eggs so i think a couple are a bit off:( Opinions.....?

I think this guys got the BEST color but it looks like a single comb!!

Probably a roo?

Hello, welcome to the BLRW thread! BLRs are great chickens to have, both beautiful and docile! To answer your question, it depends on what your intentions are. If you just wanted some BLRs to add some nice variety to your flock, you got it. If you are interested in breeding then you would need to wait awhile and then post pictures again. These guys just have their juvenile feathers and will molt a couple more times before you get an idea of their lacing quality. I will say that you should NOT breed a BLR with a single comb. Also, the 3rd picture down is in my opinion a roo. As for the one you think might be a gold laced, BLRs come in 3 varieties: blue, black and splash. The 1st picture is of a splash, the roo apears to be a blue and the dark one could be a black (and looks like a pullet, IMO). Splashes aren't desired in breeding as much as for pets. The splash tends to dilute the red, it should be a nice dark mahogany color with no gold or orange. If you're interested in breeding, I wouldn't start with eBay eggs. But that's just my opinion. This thread has lots of information and pictures of what to look for if breeding. Enjoy your BLRs, they are a wonderful breed to have! :D

Thank you salinaschicken! I plan to breed them. The only other standards I have that I breed are sumatras and the rest are bantams so out of all standards I decided to go with these guys:) I'll post pics later on down the road. I'll try to sell the splash at the Little rhody show tomorrow....

And lucky u buddy phoenix! That's a good deal! I'm assuming eggs...good luck on the hatch!
