Blue Laced Red Wyandotte THREAD!

O.K. poultry judges, here's some better shots of the lacing. Not shot in the sun though, we're all fogged in. :-(

Thoughts?

Here's another....

By the way, I thought yesterday might be the first day in a while she didn't cough up an egg but around 5:00 she crawled up in there and popped one out. Today will be the day probably.

I like your SL..pretty girl..

I like so many parts of your BLR....not enough pictures to Judge her in a show sense. Pretty comb and wattles. Yellow legs..Some pictures she looks blue and in others she looks black..I do like her. If I owned her I would be tempted to breed her to see if she is crossed with a Barnvelder and do a test breeding. It does not matter because she is beautiful..

We'll wait for Chickenhill to weigh in on the Barnvelder cross...she's our only squatter...so easy to pick her up.

honestly, I think she's just a result of breeding incompletely laced birds together. tho since the double lacing is also not complete, she probably does carry 1 gene of Columbian too... finding a completely laced (even narrow edge all the way around), good quality blrw roo, she would probably give you some decent birds to work with. if that's what you want to do. ( I would).

type wise, she looks a LOT like my Foley girl did...

Hi Karen....
I am no expert but I don't see the double lacing everyone is talking about. Her lacing is broad, not narrow, but I can't find a double laced feather.
As for type, she looks a lot like your Foley girl because she is of the same lines.

I also see in your sig that you have a standard poodle. We do too. It's a lot like owning an ape, intelligence wise, isn't it? LOL Our neighbors had a Border Collie, supposedly the smartest breed, named Rosie. Jake and Rosie did not like each other due to Rosie nipping Jake when he was little. Jake made it his life's work to torment Rosie, nothing mean, but just make her life a little more difficult. It was interesting to watch both of there canine brains working!

yup. love my spoo. best dog in the world. no offense to anyone with BC, but they are known to be frequently neurotic and OCD (MUST HERD!!!!)

as for the double lacing, I edited the image to point out just a few of the feathers that show it...

a completely (genetically complete) feather will have no darkness in the center, at all, whether it be partial lacing, mossiness or anything else.
