Blue Laced Red Wyandotte THREAD!

These are just the questions I also have. Your birds look exactly my little pullets. {I also got a pretty Splash in the bunch though she is splash all over not the splash laced] As far as we know the mother to these pullets is a Blue Wyandotte and the dad is a BLRW. So my next question is....if I breed these pullets to my BLRW roo will I get BLRW or Blue or combination of each or WHAT?
I sure don't even begin to understand the genetics of these birds though the blue, black splash genetics is easy, it's the lacing I don't get??????
Any help please?
The simple answer is yes you will get some that are BLRW and some blue BUT that would take several breedings back to the BLRW to get the lacing to look right or be complete.

I am working with a project that is a similar kinda of cross I am on my 3rd generation and STILL the patter is muted and not as sharp as it should be. The easiest thing to do would be to get some BLRW pullets, but if you are just replacing your flock and are in no rush you can keep doing that breeding to get the lacing back. I would think you would need to add some new blood somewhere down the road though. You are going to lose vigor the more you cross back to the sire.

They are beautiful birds I have a BLGW roo, and hen but when I look at these photos they look more like a BLRW I will post up a pic

Just wondering if you got your birds from Longford. Your roo looks a bit like mine.

ok... *bang head here* something or someone is telling me I shouldn't attempt bantam blrw, I think...
:barnie :he
I found my ONLY bantam blrw pullet minus her head this morning. partially pulled thru the wire of her pen...

I'm starting to feel the same way. My blrw cockerel has some kind of injury (I can't figure out what it is) and can't stand up. I'm giving him another week to show improvement or he's going to be one really expensive chicken dinner.
I'm guessing he got bumped off the ramp or tried to fly from the pop door to the ground and got hurt on some ice or frozen ground.

Not being able to stand up with no sign of injury is a common presentation of Mareks disease.
