My BLR Wyandotte, 19 weeks.

I have 8 chickens… 4 are BLRWs and 4 are other kinds. The 4 BLRWs are the same age as the others (hatched in Feb 2015). The BLRWs haven't been laying eggs for the past 4-5 days at least. What gives? The others are still actively laying.

They are more than likely coming into molt.

Usually, if I hatch chicks that early in the year, they end up lightly molting in the fall.

That's exactly what happened to my birds. The Wyandottes took forever to start laying (hatched in January) and just as they started to lay eggs they went into a molt and unlike the others that were hatched at the same time instead if their laying being cut back they basically stopped laying all together until spring...even when I added lights on a timer.

I am loving these beautiful chickens!! I have a hen who just went broody today for the first time and I am dying to put some eggs under her. Can anyone here recommend someone who might sell some hatching eggs of these fabulous beauties???
