Blue Laced Red Wyandotte THREAD!

I can accurately sex mine at 5-6 weeks. Wattles have ' dropped ' by then.

With my birds the first ones with wattles are certainly cockerels but then it gets a bit muddied with early maturing pullets and slow maturing cockerels. I have made the effort to try and get a wide genetic mix and haven't been line breeding so maybe that's part of the problem.

I found it helps to band the cockerels early or once the wattles and combs are red , because there are definitely different stages and indicators with this breed. :) my cockerels are always the slowest to feather in at the 5-6 week stage and beyond.

This is a perfect example of mine at 8 -10 weeks . Spot the cockerel. :D

With my bad luck....nope, both very well behaved boys! LoL. I made the mistake of buying 3 chicks straight run. One passed away a few days after I brought them home... no Rhyme or Reason. And the 2 healthy ones turned out to be boys of course. Anyone have 2 pullets they'd like to trade for a nice boy and some payment? :)

Sorry, can't have roosters within city limits here. Hope you find a good home for one with lots of hens to keep him busy.
