Mine have always lightened with age. I can see dark and light tail feathers on your guy, so he is a splash. Both birds pictured have nice body type!

Here are some examples of how much their color can change.

OK, What is up with the pink legs on the rooster? Is that normal?

I suppose it takes some getting used to. There are plenty of Wyandottes with straight combs so you can probably find plenty to put in your flock if you so desire.
I would not hammer you for liking what you like. Breed how YOU want your flock to look, not by someone's ideas about what THEY want. You might not can show them and probably don't want to anyhow so don;t worry what others like or dislike. If tehy don;t want to buy the offspring they can find a breeder that breeds what they want to see in theirs.

I do not mind seeing the combs. I have had Silkies long enough to get used to it and I adore those Muscovy that have a lot of carnuncle on their faces so the comb of the Wyandottes does not bother me. It isn't like I pet them there. But to each his own. That is what makes America great!

the roo is about 4 months the pullet is almost 2 months.I don't mind the sc for my laying pens since they only lay eggs but if people come out and see them they may think I use them in the breeding pen so I won't keep any.
