Quote: no prob... i edited the photo i found, as the text was barely readable. so i made it a bit bigger and fixed the text. but pleased to say my bantam boy fits this image to a T, and his girl is pretty close too, type wise. if anything the hen's red is a bit lighter than i'd like to see, with a bit of shafting, but he's much darker than she is, so it's a workable issue. but in any breed, IMO, breed for type first, and worry about fixing the color later.
Candled last night. 7 of 10 DMRippy's BLRW eggs are growing! I received the return email from Jerry Foley and will be getting a 7 month old pair next week!He also offered me a splash pullet of the same age. I was trying to breed for blues and understand splash throw splash and blues. Any thoughts on the splash? Do you think It would dilute the color of the blues I'm going for?![]()
yeah, dremel his spurs like you would a dog's toenails.Well my drama today, I noticed my Splash Pullet from Foley had some feathers hanging down her leg, totally out of place. I thought the roo might have broken her wing..... NOOOOOO he had cut a HUGE gash in her side and I never saw itIt had already dried up and started to heal. I have no idea when it happened. I have been working on eggs for 3 days and hubby has been feeding them
She seems to be ok. We cut the dangling skin and feathers off
It didn't look infected so I just left it alone and MOVED her to a pen so she can rest. DANG ROO
I am going to give her some vitamins too, but I don't know of anything else to do for her.![]()
I had an EE roo that did something similar to a hen, she recovered ok. Is there anything I can do to prevent this in the future?

He is young, I don't think he has spurs????? I will look tomorrow, but I think it was his toe nails.... I need to trim them if it was. He is just kinda rough on her. I may put her with the other roo when she is healed.
