Blue mottled orpingtons

Here are some more pictures of the chicks now that they are getting feathers. Are all the light ones actually splash mottled or could they possibly be blue mottled like she said. These are the 5 chicks.

Thanks so much. Once the other two dry I’ll post pictures. But honestly I’m just excited that something hatched from the shipped eggs.
I added some pictures now that they are getting some feathers. Do you still think the same thing?

Yes I am seeing 2 blue mottled and 3 splash mottled. And these aren’t great pics to be able to tell but I would be suspicious that the first 2 might be cockerels and hopefully the last three pullets.

I would take 3 pullets for sure. I was only trying to get pictures for colours. Soon they will be in the outside brooder with better light so will take more pictures then.

Here’s some new pictures. With leg size I’m starting to think 4 boys and 1 girl. Curious what others think.

The only thing I can say with any sort of surety at this point is that #2 looks like a boy to me! Orpingtons are so hard!!

I hope so. I wondered if your slow the one is feathering would make it a roo too.
Slow feathering can be a sign in some breeds but I am not sure if orpingtons are one of them. However I had two orpington chicks (one black mottled and one jubilee) and the black mottled did feather in very slowly and was a male. The jubilee feathered faster and is a female, so there may be something to that!

Now I’m curious but I hope not cause then I do have 1 hen and three roosters. But I guess one hen is better then non.
