We bought several chicks from a well known breeder ( BLRW, SLW, & Blue wyandotte) My question is a few of our blue chicks are Black, will their color lighten up or do i need to add another flavor to our list? lol

If they are black, they are blacks, but if it is more a char cole gray, they could be dark blues.

Do you have any pics?

We are going to post a few pics this morming!! Ok on the breeders web page they say that the Blues come in Blue, Black, and Splash? We are new to the Blue line, I know that Blue Laced Red Wyandottes come in BLR, Black Laced, and Splash

Okay let me help you out with the "blue gene."

Long story short is Blue is Black...lol, just lighter

Here is what you would get from these matings:
Black x Black = 100% Blacks
Blue x Black = 50% Blue & 50% Blacks
Blue x Blue = 25% Blacks, 50% Blues & 25% Splash
Splash x Splash = 100% Splash
Black x Splash = 100% Blues
Blue x Splash = 50% Blue & 50% Splash

Black is the "normal" color
Blue is a dilute
Splash is a double dilute

So:
Black has no blue gene
Blue has one blue gene & Splash has 2 blue genes

Edited to fix spelling

That needs to be a "sticky". I'm writing that down.
