Blue or Black?

This is the same guy as my profile picture :) I thought he would be technically "blue" but my husband disagrees. I'm curious! Opinions?

His backside is more gray blue and it goes down his legs too.
 
I had silkies that were the same way! They hatched from two dark blue parents, who themselves were distinguishable from their black counterparts. The offspring were obviously blue at hatching but grew up to be so dark that I could not tell them from the black birds. Interestingly, some of them had single combs despite being the offspring of a show quality hen and a breeding quality rooster. I only mention that because it looks like your boy has a single comb too.

I'm very curious to see what others think.
