Blue Paint Silkie thread

700

I was told my paint is a blue paint tell me what y'all think:/:)

I read somewhere online in a silkie color description, that paint color was supposed to have champagne leakage or light champagne color in it. So, does anyone know if this is right or wrong? Or opinion and confusion like so many other silkie colors.

Is the paint gene recessive or dominant? Right now all I have is a black painted hen and a buff roaster, so will there chicks be paints or carry the gene? How will I get more paints?

Hopefully someone else will answer . Until then I will give it a shot . You do not have paint no matter if they came from paint . The best info I have found is paint is caused by 1 copy of a type of dominant white . So you need to find some more paints or a dominant white . Many of the whites are recessive .

Not understanding your explanation! I do have a painted hen, who carries the gene. So would that gene be carried by her offspring even if they are a different colour than her?

Ok if she is a black paint 50% of her chicks will be paint pattern . My bad . I took it to mean you had a black out of paint . Being dominant it is seen as paint if they carry it . With the exception of paint to paint throwing some whites due to 2 copies . Any other solid colors are not carrying paint .

50 percent of the chicks will be paint, even if the father is a buff that doesn't carry the paint gene?
