Blue Rock or something else?

Hi. I’d gotten chicks from a local feed store who got them from Mt Healthy Hatchery or Hoover’s.
The pictures are of my Blue Rock chick. She’s 15 weeks now. She is black. Not the gray I had expected. Did I get a different breed?

Looks like an australorp from what I can tell in photos.
Are her legs grey or greenish? Hard to tell.

She’s the one on the left. The one to her right is a Black copper Marans.

She’s the one in the front.

I don’t think that could have gone better - I swear she was posing for those. This group of chicks had been so skittish. I’m glad they seem to be getting over that. It’s not like they’re going to willingly let me pick them up, but I was expecting to chase them around the yard to get the pictures, which is why the other pictures were taken through the window.

Legs look more black. Not grey like my lavender Orpington

but now that you say australorp, yup. I see that. The green sheen feathers.

She does seem to have the orange eyes of a Marans though. Perhaps one of the hatchery Marans hybrids that do not have feathered legs?

I would say Australorp; my gal has orange eyes but her sister had black eyes. Makes her look more like a little dino

I think the hatchery had messed up in what they sent. Marans were supposed to come that day, but didn't, the australorp came 2 days after I got her. The Marans makes sense as her head and coloring looks just like the black copper marans, except not the feathered feet. Their tail feathers are different.

I do think I'm going to have to change her name - it was Blue.

I'll have to call her the Hen formerly known as Blue, until I can figure out what she is. If she was an australorp, I think she'd be Matie (May-tee). If a Marans, maybe Mary.
