Blue Slates

We have 2 toms (they get along really well), we have been told that they are both blue slate, but one is black. Do blue slates come in the grayish/blueish color and black as well?

I'm wondering if the black one is a Black Spanish maybe?

They can be blue all the way to black.

what i was told, from the guy I got my black Spanish turkeys from, said blue slates are a genetic defect (but in a good way..if that makes sense from the black Spanish gene. I have 3 black hens, 1 black tom and 1 blue slate all from the same clutch of eggs.

I'm not very familiar with turkey color genetics yet...but not too bad with dog and horse =)
He may have meant that the blue slate is a dilute of the black.
