Good evening and thank you in advance for any help and advice. My almost 7 month old blue Wyandotte is having a hard time controlling her neck, wing, and walking/standing. She has been in a chicken house/run with her sister of the same age. Her sister is a little mean and suspected of killing a silkie they lived/grew up with. Her head is slung way back. She is drinking & will eat bread but doesn’t want her chicken food. We don’t have a chicken vet within 120 miles. I don’t want her to suffer but I’ve raised her since she was a few days old and am very attached. She’s separated & in a dog crate in the house now. Her sister is totally fine. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.

Do you know if she was vaccinated for Mareks disease? That is a virus that may cause those and other symptoms, and it affects chickens in the first year of life more commonly. Dehydration, being kept from food and water, an injury may look similar. Can you post any pictures of your chicken? Videos posted to YouTube or Vimeo with a link posted here could be helpful. Are her toes curled under? Offer water right away, and electrolytes would be good to give. Pedialyte, Gatorade, SaveAChick, Poultry NutriDrench would all be good.

Thank you both for your help. I’m attaching a couple pictures of her this morning. She seems much weaker. She won’t drink by herself but I helped with a dropper & fed her some scrambled egg but she only ate a few bites. She seemed starving but eating wore her out.

I got her and her sister from tractor supply. I don’t know if they vaccinate or not. I have been keeping up with her eating & drinking & until this morning she was eating and drinking well. Her toes aren’t curled.
