BlueTheBrahma’s thread!

the two boys at the front are Blue and Barry. Blue is a purebred Blue Splash Brahma, Barry is a cross between a white Brahma and a red star.
A friend hatched them out, Blue from eggs he bought and Barry from his own flock (3 weeks later). I was in the process of preparing my new allotment, which is next to his, for chickens, so he gave me his five old layers and five of the chicks.

When I went to have a look at them, Blue was the only one to come up to me for food, and Barry seemed to be his little friend.

Blue bit me on the finger on this day, I should have realised then what I had ahead of me.

Blue was a very eye catching chick.

I love the Jurassic Park names, my first year I had those same names plus a bunch different Dinosaur spevies names! I didn't have good luck with my Delta's, the first one ended up being a cockerel so was rehomed, the second was like by a hawk when she was maybe 3 months old, so no more Delta's for me 😔

I'll let you get settled here in your thread before I throw my Brahmas in the mix for evaluation. Maybe that will also give me time to get better photos 😃 were supposed to get snow today and tomorrow and then highs in the 20's and lows in the single digits for a bit (degF).

I got snow this morning, I wasn’t expecting it because every time it’s forecast here it snows everywhere but here.

You’ll see pictures of my Brahmas too to compare yours to. My Delta unfortunately didn’t make it through the 40 degree C weather we had two years ago. Echo was also a cockerel so I gave him back. His colour is obviously male looking back but at the time I just chose nice colours.
