BlueTheBrahma’s thread!

There was never a point (expect when he was young and introduces to old hens) when Blue was not in charge. Since he was 8 months old he’s always been the biggest chicken I own, since a year and a half he has been the biggest chicken in my town.
That's impressive. I feel like I need some Brahma's at some point.

I don't feel like you'll find anyone on this thread that tells you that you are feeling wrong :gig
If I could only have one breed, I might just have to pick the Brahma, they excel in as layers, meat birds and I’d say they are the most economical broodies (as in they have both a high success rate and can fit the most eggs under at once, vs silkies who can’t fit so many under).

Edit: after saying this I already miss Marans, Silkies and Welsummers, so it’s a good thing I don’t have to pick one breed.

I processed an 8 month old cockerel and he dressed out at 5.3 pounds, longer time to feed him, but a very nice looking bird for the kitchen.

I hadn't considered the size for being broody and covering more eggs, but very true about the silkies being limited in size and ability to tackle many eggs in comparison.

One day I'll have Welsummers and Marans, still working on those two 🤣
