Are these 3 Splash? Or Paints?
I haven't grasped the difference yet.

He was a bit big (my silkies are inbetween bantam and largefowl size, I’m working to shrink them), and sadly died before I hatched any of his children.
What color was Footloose? He was pretty.

A recessive white rather than paint, lovely blue beak and dark skin. His beard is small (likely heterozygous) but his sons have bigger beards. Carrying single comb genes, so ideally needs replacing.
♥️

Paint, you can tell as they are crisp white with less frequent bit mixed size black (or blue) spots. Heterozygous for dominant white; some black doesn’t get masked and it’s easier to see in silkies.

I believe Footloose was paint, but also splash, so the black patches a paint has are replaced buy mixed greys.

And, if I hold the phone for my paint, can you please repeat the part about crisp clean white? He's leaking his chocolate out all over and he's getting darker with every molt. He's such a sweetheart though.

He was showing my one pullet how to make a nest yesterday so she much be getting close to laying. I've seen him chattering encouragement to first time layers too, he's just a cool little guy! I have one chocolate paint hen from him and one of my layers. She's totally adorable too, and I need a few more 😊

Can we get more photos of this guy! I don’t think he’s strictly a chocolate paint, because he doesn’t look to be extended black.

So he was much lighter early last year and got darker in the fall and then molted late fall and now he's really dark.

Here's a satin son about 16 weeks old, he's now 23 wks and has some leakage, it looks dusty

Silkie son same age as the satin, also looking a tinge dirty with leakage
