wow! love that! i saw one on antique roadshow years ago..thought how wonderful it would look..when i get enough together i think i will get in touch with them..

might be..it depends on the work schedule..is there more info posfed on it? december is a bad month..everybody wants off.

Go...and I'll harass you in person.

I was thinking of making a Superman cape out of some ribbons, but after a great deal of thought I came to the conclusion that it might be a bit much! lol

Why raise chickens if you can't enjoy the coop smell? The poop here ends up as a fine dust on the TV. The birds keep it ground up...no piles.

Walt,

I don't think you have 80% + humidity all summer . Wet chicken poop gets rank in a hurry, but any damp spilled feed will really reek in a day or so.It's 96 here right now with a dry, hot wind, and high humidity. At least the air is moving .

Quote: Yes, Yes! Big green thumbs up and kudos for this post! One thing I have learned about Standards is they personify the balance in a breed. So many things are interconnected in a bird to create the whole balanced breed type and the production virtues. When we follow the SOP, we also follow the balance which our breed predecessors desired, obtained and honored. They thought enough of the importance of balance to write it down and create a bellwether against which we could judge our birds and plan our breeding programs. We have the breed specific issues for a breed within the Standard. However, reading the 1st 38 pages of the SOP book gives us the foundation upon which these breed specific issues reside. So if we don't understand the 1st 38 pages, it is harder to understand why the things in the Standard "make" the whole breed and variety. Like studying the make up of paint and canvas so one can paint a better picture.
Best,
Karen

Just checked to see that all the Buffs are now up in the main covered run. I picked up quickly, and misted the sand down. They look like kids at the beach, burying themselves in the clean sand. Funny...Wilbur always could tell if I had birds at a show. He said they always smelled nice.
